When it comes to premium Sancerre ... THIS is a wine you need to taste.
Once again, we are set to offer our some new wines from Domaine du Carrou, and this might be the best bottle of Sancerre we have ever offered not only from this estate ... but when you consider its price vs some of the other ultra premium producers in the region ... this might be the biggest Sancerre deal we have offered ... of all time!!
The reality is ... at $39.95 ... you will be hard pressed to find a better white wine anywhere in the world ... that offers up this much complexity, concentration and overall elegance
Since the 1700s the Roger family has been producing Sancerre in the small hamlet of Bué, and Dominique Roger now proudly leads the charge at Domaine du Carrou. No herbicides or pesticides are used at the estate, and all harvesting is still done by hand. Dominique's steadfast dedication to allowing fruit to fully, naturally ripen on the two steep slopes of old-vine vineyards planted in limestone puts his wines directly alongside other Sancerre greats: Ladoucette, Mellot, Vacheron, et. al.
The biggest issue with this wine? There is VERY little to go around. This wine comes from a single .37-hectare parcel in Bué's most famous vineyard, called Chêne Marchand — vines were planted in the 1990s.
Bottom line, this is one of the best bottles of premium white wine you will buy all year. It's a spectacular representation of just how great Sancerre can be when done right ... at a price point that should be 2-3 times the price!
Grab this while you can. After you taste it, you will wish you had bought more.
"The “Chêne Marchand” has long been one of the most famous “lieux dits” of the Sancerre appellation. Located on a south-facing hillside just above the village of Bué, the Chêne Marchand adds much to the reputation of the wines of the village. " - Winery
