The Seahawks parted ways with a franchise icon Wednesday, releasing Tyler Lockett after 10 memorable seasons in Seattle.
Tyler Lockett arrived in Seattle as a third-round pick in the 2015 draft. He leaves, a decade later, as an all-time great Seahawk, on and off the field.
The Seahawks released Lockett on Wednesday in a salary cap-related move, bringing to an end one of the best careers by a receiver in team history.
The move is one that Lockett knew could be coming, causing him to turn reflective in the final weeks of the 2024 season. And after the final game of the season, he opened his press conference not by talking of his own accomplishments, but by thanking the athletic trainers, equipment staff and just about every part of the organization that has helped him throughout his career.
In 10 seasons in Seattle, Tyler Lockett became one of the greatest players in franchise history as he recorded 661 receptions, 8,594 receiving yards, and 61 receiving touchdowns which all rank second in franchise history.
