Good Morning Sabah People,
This email is all about Sabah Solemates. We're featuring four couples who love to Sabah together, asking how they met and that they share a few words of wisdom on how to make it last.
We're also introducing our newest release: the Solemate Baba, a dual-toned pair: bright red velvet meets a soft pink velvet, finished with a cream piping.
We've made just 100 pairs of this limited edition release in El Paso, Texas. Each comes with a special edition Baba Solemate bag too. ❤️🔥
Read on for love!
Sincerely,
The Sabah Dealer

Keshia Hannam, writer & filmmaker, and Florian Koenigsberger, photographer & technologist, met 5 years ago on a dance floor. A well-timed DM and a year of friendship later led to a relationship that has been their "greatest gift."
Recently engaged, we asked them for any words of wisdom:
"Have hard conversations as often as they’re needed, try to outdo each other in acts of love and make sure at least one person is funny," they told us.
|
|
One thing we know about Florian & Keshia, they travel a lot and seem to always have a backgammon board in tow.
They agreed: "Our Sabah backgammon boards have saved us in many long airport layovers..."
And, Where to Next?
"Hong Kong, new creative projects and a lot more sun than these New York winters afford."
Bon Voyage, y'all!

Alfred Bridi ('Alfie'), an immigration lawyer, and Caroline Newton ('Caro'), a creative director, met just over 5 years ago on the stoop outside of a Halloween party in Brooklyn.
They were neighbors and kept running into each other after their first encounter. A few more chance bump-ins led to drinks and then the rest was history. They were married last August in Portugal!
|
|
As for words of wisdom, they each shared a perspective.
Alfie: "Find someone you can be all versions of yourself with. Someone who will cheer you on and be there for you. Who loves to indulge as much as you do. Who cares about the same things (family, friends, fun) and who never thinks it’s got enough garlic."
Caro: "Just be yourself. Sounds cheesy but it’s key! And the sooner you do that the closer you are at finding your person. Welcome messy moments and see how you navigate those. I mean… lockdown ended up being a good filter for this exact reason!"
|
|
They claim to have an embarrassing number of Sabahs & Babas shared between them (they declined to disclose figures). We respectfully disagree -- no such thing as too many!
As for Where to Next?
So many places... Brazil, Japan, Tbilisi, Marseille, Naples, Joburg and always Lebanon.
And metaphorically, "Somewhere between a carajillo and a dirty martini."
We like the sound of that.

Julia Kimmel, a tech executive, and Beth Gladstone, a psychotherapist & social worker, met 6 years ago at the Cubbyhole, an iconic lesbian bar in the West Village, and immediately got into an argument.
"We’ve been fighting ever since," they joked. "But we did argue when we first met and I guess that sparked a flame that quickly burned very bright."
|
|
As for words of wisdom:
"Express your love and gratitude towards one another. Be honest with yourself about what you want and need and communicate that clearly to each other. Those needs will change throughout life and if you can meet them for each other - it’s the foundation you’ll need to grow together for a long time."
They finished: "Also, find a great couples therapist!"
|
|
Seeing their award-winning, in breadth & depth, collection of Sabahs, we couldn't help but ask about how Sabah has played a role in their lives & relationship.
They told us: "Sabah has been part of our relationship since the early days. From summer parties at the Amagansett store to being neighbors with Mickey in the East Village, to arguing about who has dibs on the new best Sabah release - they are all we wear and we love the team making it all happen.
We’ve been gushing about Sabah for years and our friends around the world have also become Sabah Soulmates!"
|
|
And, Where to Next?
Motherhood this June!
Congratulations, y'all! We can't wait to get Sabahs on this little ones feet :)

Anna Polonsky, the Founder and Creative Director at Polonsky & Friends, and Fernando Aciar, a NYC-based artist & designer, met through a common friend over ten years ago.
"We hated each other at first sight but reconnected over wine at another friend's farewell party. A week later we were dating, a month after we were living together and a year later we were married," they told us.
|
|
As for words of wisdom, they each shared some thoughts.
Anna: "Find the projects that animate you as a couple, communicate as much as possible be it directly or through therapy (nothing wrong with that!), find magic and gratefulness in the little things, focus on the big picture."
Fernando: "Allow your personal change to happen, and if meaning to be in the same path keep going and work hard communicating constantly, don’t hold anything back. I think the most important thing is to have common interests to move ahead with the relationship. Love is there already. But changes are the most problematic if you don’t let them manifest."
|
|
Asked about their Sabah collection:
"Sabahs are what we wear everyday when we wake up and when we come back from work! They’re the #1 witness of our personal life and nest."
And finally, Where To Next?
"Great question; we're dreaming up new projects as we speak, where we can both continue to thrive professionally but also connect more as/focus more on our family. Our son Nicah has changed everything and we want to be able to go with that flow further," they told us.
