"Seriously, if you knew what juice was in this bottle you might not even believe me!"
— Ryan Woodhouse, K&L Domestic Wine Buyer

Many are familiar with our Kalinda label—our network of top producers affords us a wonderful opportunity to curate thoughtful and over-delivering bottlings from some of California's finest estates. However, when it comes to a producer of the caliber of today’s 2023 Kalinda Anderson Valley Pinot Noir, we break out the black "Reserve" label. This is a serious, age-worthy yet accessible wine that shows its quality in spades, and it's perhaps one of the most exciting Kalinda releases in years. For Pinot Noir royalty for a song, it doesn't get much better than this.

Kalinda is the long-running house label for K&L that, over the years, has been the conduit for secret wines from some of the very top producers in the country. Silver Oak, Kosta Browne, Lewis Cellars, Turnbull, Duckhorn, and Cakebread are just some of the names that have supplied wines for this program in years gone by. However, none are as exclusive or as sought after as the winery that made this particular wine! So much so that we can't even buy their regular wines because they're strictly available only to mailing list members and high-end restaurants. Thankfully, we have a great agreement where we can select a few barrels for our own custom blend on the absolute promise that it remains anonymous. So, please don't ask... If I tell you... we won't be getting any more! (Ryan Woodhouse - K&L Domestic Wine Buyer)

This is one of those Kalinda bottlings that if we could tell you who made it...or put their name on the bottle...it would be gone in less than 24 hours for sure! The 2023 Kalinda "Reserve" Anderson Valley Pinot Noir is sourced from some of the finest organic and biodynamic vineyards in the region and crafted by one of the USA's true legends of Pinot Noir with a multi-decade legacy of crafting top-notch Pinot Noir. This winery's releases are strictly mailing list only, or found on top Michelin Star wine lists across the country. The fruit is from an absolute a-list of vineyard sites and aged in top-notch French oak cooperage. This winery always crafts a more elegant style of Pinot Noir that combines Anderson Valley's classic mixture of forest berries with savory earthy tones and woodsy spices. The 2023 is just stunning, showing the quality of the cool, long growing season. I was lucky enough to be able to select a few barrels from their cellar to create our very own Kalinda Reserve bottling that I'm absolutely thrilled with! Spiced cherry, bramble fruit, sandalwood, truffle, forest floor, and the most silky, fine tannins on the palate. Delicious and expressive right now upon release, but will age 5-8 years with ease, probably more. Seriously, if you knew what juice was in this bottle you might not even believe me! That's why we're sworn to secrecy!

Kalinda, aka 'one of the best values in the store' delivers again! This Pinot Noir bottling from Kalinda showcases the fresher, lighter style of Anderson Valley, with alcohol level reaching only 13%. Aromas and flavors of fresh raspberries, wild strawberries, dried hibiscus, plump cherries, and a nice long spicy finish.

This classically coloured (bright Garnet) Pinot Noir has a perfumed nose of rose petals, bright cherries & raspberries with mildly savory spices. On the palate, very complex with dark raspberries, sour cherry, baking spice & wood spice, light orange peel. The mid-palate is softer and slightly plush, while the front palate and back palate are fresh with nice acidity and grace. This is made by a FANTASTIC winemaker and is in no way to be missed!

Another reserve wine from the lovely folks at Kalinda; this bottling is a youthful, spice driven expression of Anderson Valley Pinot Noir. Leading scents of woodsy blue fruit - like blueberries foraged under the musky dew of a cold Mendocino Morning, with cranberries zested on a windswept mountainside - these cool fruits are brushed with sandalwood powder and lightly drifting incense smoke, imparting a driven, electric feel of lively minerals and well-spiced fruit. A fantastic bottling of herbal-toned Anderson, with plenty of fruit to bring you back for a second glass!
