Rhône Discoveries & Collectible Rarities
Keith Mabry K&L Rhône Valley Wine Buyer
Having had the privilege to host an incredible Southern Rhône tasting this weekend, I am feeling particularly energized by all the excitement the selections have garnered. With new direct-import discoveries arriving daily and delicious releases finally in stock, this lineup seamlessly marries unrivaled technique with unbeatable pricing. My love affair with Rhône wines can't possibly be attributed to a single quality, yet the sheer versatility of this region, in terms of food pairing, stands unmatched in my mind. From elegant whites perfect for spring dishes, to incredibly versatile red blends (ideal companion for burger night, anyone?), to world-class rarities reserved for life's most special moments - this lineup genuinely offers something for everyone.
Rhonea’s 2020 “Terroir Daranton” Gigondas
(featured below) was among our top-selling wines last week for good reason—this
$20 Southern Rhône (97-DC) gem is 50% off and not to be missed.
Aromatic Whites for Spring Pairing
Rhône white wines are an overlooked category with incredible depth and diversity. Unlike the more familiar Chardonnay or Sauvignon Blanc, they carve out a unique space with their expressive aromatics and rich textures. The granitic and alluvial soils of the region produce wines that range from the floral vibrancy of Viognier to the opulent, structured profiles of Marsanne and Roussanne.
Rhône whites offer endless pairing possibilities. A rich Northern Rhône white complements roasted oily fish, monkfish, or lobster in beurre blanc. Condrieu or a Marsanne-based Crozes-Hermitage shine in these settings and even pair surprisingly well with classic fryer-style fried chicken. Southern Rhône whites are just as versatile, enhancing fish stews, roasted chicken, or garlicky pork sausage with mustard. Their balance of stone fruit and minerality elevates bold flavors. Read more about why we love these aromatic beauties, especially this time of year!

Direct-Import Exclusives from Domaine d'Abrigeon
Nestled in the northern slopes of the Ventabren massif, Buisson in the Southern Rhône was once overshadowed by its sun-drenched neighbors, Rasteau and Cairanne. But shifting climates and the vision of Nadia and Julien d’Abrigeon have turned this once-overlooked village into a hidden gem. Drawn by its affordable land and 80-year-old vines, the couple saw untapped potential for a biodynamic estate.
Julien, a geologist-turned-winemaker, refined his craft in Bordeaux, New Zealand, Switzerland, and under Rhône legend Jean-Louis Chave. Initially selling their fruit for Chave’s “Mon Coeur” Côtes du Rhône, the d’Abrigeons launched their own wine in 2021. Now farming eight hectares organically and pursuing biodynamic certification, vibrant expressions are paired with beautifully labeled bottles and make an exciting addition to the evolving Rhône landscape! A producer to watch, don't miss these over-delivering releases.

Case-Worthy Rhône Gems from Domaine de la Ganse
Coralie Onde, from the renowned winemaking family behind Domaine les Ondines, forged her own path in 2008 by founding Domaine de la Ganse in Southern Rhône's Vacqueyras. Starting with exceptional old-vine fruit and a small holding from the family estate, she has since expanded to nearly nine hectares, and in 2014, achieved organic certification! Her beautiful wines are hand-harvested, destemmed, and aged entirely in concrete and stainless steel tanks to preserve the region’s signature fruit and character. Offering an authentic and vibrant expression of Vacqueyras terroir, Coralie’s wines deliver exceptional quality at an unrivaled price point.
