Pierre Paillard "Les Parcelles" Grand Cru Extra Brut Bouzy Champagne ($49.99) "Non-vintage Champagne does not get much better than this. The Paillard family makes a statement with this great cuvée and show how very serious that they are about quality." — Gary Westby, K&L Champagne Buyer Grand Cru Extra Brut Rosé Champagne ($64.99) "This is one of the most refreshing and elegant rosé Champagnes in our inventory." — Gary Westby, K&L Champagne Buyer We are back with two of our all-time best-selling grower Champagnes. The absolutely charming Pierre Paillard "Les Parcelles" Grand Cru Extra Brut is the pinnacle of non-vintage Champagne. Share this with your friends or guests and watch as they have their lightbulb moment, especially when compared side-by-side with any big house Champagne. As a special bonus, the singularly unique Terres Roses offers a chance to experience one of the most refreshing and elegant rosé Champagnes in our inventory.
Pierre Paillard "Les Parcelles" Grand Cru Extra Brut Bouzy Champagne ($49.99) 93 points Jeb Dunnuck: "Made from 80% Pinot and 20% Chardonnay, with the base 2019 and the rest reserve wine from the past couple of years, the NV Champagne Grand Cru Bouzy Les Parcelles is expressive and fruit-forward on opening, with notes of cherry blossom, fresh peach, and honeycomb. With zero grams per liter dosage, there’s no lacking for ripeness and freshness. Long on the palate and quite inviting, it’s going to be wonderful drinking over the coming 8-10 years. (AF)" (11/2023) 91 points Decanter: "From the 2019 vintage-based edition, Pailllard's popular entry-level wine will now be fermented entirely in second-use small oak barrels. 80% Pinot Noir and 20% Chardonnay from Bouzy, full of outgoing fruit red apples, cherry, stone fruit with some green almond, anise and gentle spiciness. Les Parcelles has enough structure and crusty-bread richness for the table, but retains a refreshing lightness of touch given the village, vintage and the oak usage. (TH)" (04/2023) Gary Westby | K&L Champagne Buyer | Review Date: December 13, 2022 Non-vintage Champagne does not get much better than this. The Paillard family makes a statement with this great cuvee and show how very serious that they are about quality. All of the details have been studied and sweated over to make this wine, from planting only massal selected vines, to working towards an organic certification. This is Champagne that has power without losing its drinkability, and richness without sweetness. The Paillard's goal is to create terroir Champagne from the Grand Cru of Bouzy- and they have succeeded. If you are only going to try one new Champagne this year, this should be it! Pierre Paillard "Les Terres Roses" Grand Cru Extra Brut Rosé Champagne ($64.99) 93 points Jeb Dunnuck: "Composed of 65% Chardonnay and the rest Pinot Noir, the NV Champagne Grand Cru Bouzy Les Terres Roses (5% red wine) pours a bright pale pink hue and reveals aromatics of ripe strawberry, fresh bread dough, and candied roses. Juicy and inviting, with a fluffy mousse, it’s full-bodied and has a clean, supple, fruity texture. It’s fresh and savory on the palate, with salty lift and a note of orange zest that leaves a mouthwatering finish. (AF)" (11/2023) 91 points Decanter: "Bouzy's reputation for beautiful red fruit is even clearer in rosé, although this is heavily tempered by Chardonnay. Red grapefruit and pomegranate fruit are lifted up and pulled tight by citrus and roasted apricots, before a lick of sweet spice and bitter herb completes a snappy, appetising rosé that presents Bouzy's power with some delicacy. 70% Chardonnay and 30% Pinot Noir, based on the 2019 vintage. (TH)" (08/2023) Gary Westby | K&L Champagne Buyer | Review Date: January 18, 2024 This is one of the most refreshing and elegant rosé Champagnes in our inventory. A combination of 65% Chardonnay, 28% Pinot Noir (vinified white), and 7% Bouzy Rouge Pinot Noir, it's dosed at 4.5 grams per liter and is quite dry. I find this wine subtle and almost haunting. Coming exclusively from grand cru, estate vineyards in Ambonnay, it is surprising to see such a high proportion of Chardonnay here, and it shows in the vibrancy of this top-notch bottling. Naturally, the old vine Pinot Noir gives it not only color, but also fantastic black cherry depth and intriguing savor. What a great dry rosé!
