"Wine is a passport to the world." In the coming months, we're excited about introducing some extraordinary new travel experiences. Many of you have expressed a strong interest in exploring premier wine and spirits destinations, and we’ve listened. We’re pleased to partner with Dan Perrelli, who founded First The Wine Adventures in 2018, specializing in bespoke winery and culinary tours for groups of 4-6 people. Dan’s deep knowledge and experience have impressed us, and we’re excited to collaborate on this new program designed exclusively for our customers. Stay tuned for more details and upcoming trip announcements! As we prepare for the formal launch of this partnership, we’re pleased to share the details of Dan’s next trip—a remarkable journey to Paris, Champagne, and Burgundy that kicks off November 13th. This trip offers an unforgettable experience at $1,650 per day, based on double occupancy (single occupancy options are available). With only six spots available, this is a unique opportunity to immerse yourself in some of the world’s most celebrated wine regions and properties alongside an industry insider. For more information or to reserve your spot, please don’t hesitate to contact us, or reach out to Dan directly at dan@firstthewine.com Best-In-Class Acclaim for Louis Latour's 2022 Cortons Louis Latour has quietly been having a renaissance, producing some of their most dynamic and exciting wines in recent vintages. Enter the critically acclaimed 2022 Red Burgundy vintage—while we suspected they’d craft outstanding wines, nothing prepared us for the heights their Grand Cru Corton bottlings have achieved. Yesterday, Wine Spectator rated them among the best of the vintage, awarding chart-topping scores of 95 to 97 points. Red Burgs at this level are usually either immediately sold out, or fetch many multiples of these prices. Sweet spot buys on Grand Cru Burgundy like this simply don't come along often.
*Pre-arrival: items expected available for shipment or delivery in late 2024. 2022 Domaine Louis Latour Corton Grand Cru "Clos de la Vigne Au Saint" (Pre-Arrival) ($129.99) 97 points James Suckling: "All the darkness and danger of Corton are married to a stunning mineral freshness thats totally uplifting. Great Amarena cherry fruit, fruit that you want to bathe in. The way the fine tannins and acidity interlock is fabulous, and for all the ripeness of the vintage the finish is super-straight and energetic. From the first vineyard the Latour family acquired in 1738. Limited production. Drink or hold." (06/2024) 95 points Wine Spectator: "There's fine purity to the juicy, ripe cherry, raspberry, rose and rich earth aromas and flavors of this red. An underlying mineral component adds depth and dimension as this builds to the long, complex aftertaste. Harmony and elegance are its hallmarks, with a silky texture and excellent length. Best from 2027 through 2047." (08/2024) 2022 Domaine Louis Latour Corton Grand Cru "Clos du Roi" (Pre-Arrival) ($129.99) 96 points Wine Spectator: "Rich and succulent, like biting into a crunchy cherry, this red also delivers blackberry, violet, stone and earth accents. Lithe and well-delineated, firming up on the long, tightly wound finish. Though more about the minerals and structure in the end, this is balanced and full of energy. Best from 2028 through 2047." (08/2024) 2022 Domaine Louis Latour Corton Grand Cru "Perrieres" (Pre-Arrival) ($129.99) 96 points Wine Spectator: "Though succulent, there's density, power and structure informing this beefy red. Black cherry, blackberry, earth, iron, vanilla and toasty oak flavors are wrapped in a cloak of ripe tannins, lending a wild, almost savage feel. The finish is compact today, yet this will be fine in 57 years. Best from 2028 through 2048." (08/2024) 2022 Domaine Louis Latour Corton Grand Cru "Chateau Corton Grancey" (Pre-Arrival) ($139.99) 98 points James Suckling: "Rich and fleshy with a dark core of interwoven fine tannins and stony minerality. Fantastic concentration and yet so suave in spite of all the power. Very long, savory finish with delicate nuances of licorice and bitter chocolate at the dark and dangerous finish. A cuvee of wines from several of the best sections of the hill. Drink or hold." (06/2024) 97 points Wine Spectator: "Rich and spicy, this red features ample cherry, raspberry, rose hip and stony mineral flavors. Silky, yet with a fine underpinning of refined tannins, ending in a resonant aftertaste. The terrific harmony, structure and length signal its future potential. Best from 2027 through 2045."
