We just secured a last-of-vintage deal that we couldn't say "yes" to quick enough. Coming from the illustrious Dog Point Vineyards, the old-vine, "Section 94" Sauvignon Blanc is one of our favorites, and a striking wine that displays the kind of complexity and depth that many Marlborough producers can only aspire to. At under $25, it’s a brilliant choice for any occasion, and we can't recommend it highly enough..

James Suckling:
"Flinty, reductive notes open up to lime zest, white grapefruit, dried pineapple, hay, white pepper and hints of praline. Medium-bodied with sharp acidity and a phenolic, tight and taut palate. Focused and long. Drink or hold." (11/2021)

Wine Spectator:
"While fleshy and succulent, this leads with crisp acidity. Offers notes of lanolin, litsea oil, honeysuckle, lemon curd, lime sherbet and dried chamomile, which are put into focus with mouthwatering acidity. Reveals mineral accents, reminiscent of white pepper, that linger on the long finish. Drink now." (11/2022)

Wine Enthusiast:
"Aged and fermented in old oak barrels, this Sauvignon is quite flinty and reductive at first. It benefits from a short time in decanter or vigorous swirling in glass. Once aerated, gentle notes of honeycomb and lime popsicle float to the fore. Primarily, though, this is about the toasty oak and struck match characters. Despite a few years of age, the acidity is still lively, crunching through the textural creaminess. Drink with richer foods than you'd pair with your regular NZ SB. (CP)" (04/2023)

This is a wine that will probably sell itself, but I couldn't resist trying to put this one into words, as it's a wonder of a Sauvignon Blanc. Floral, kiwi, stone fruit, and wet stone aromas display one nuance after another on the aromas. The palate is show-stopping, with driving minerality and impeccable texture. Pear, green apple, and lime pith are among the many fruit flavors that compliment a long, mineral-tinged finish. This was ready to go right out of the gates, but will have a long life ahead of it. Very well done.

If you are looking for a fuller body Sauvignon Blanc from New Zealand to pair with richer foods, this would be an excellent choice. From a single vineyard parcel planted in 1992, the Dog Point 2019 Section 94 Sauvignon Blanc is slightly reductive on the nose, citrusy and herbal on the palate, and finishes with a distinct minerality and vibrant acidity. Really nice depth to this certified organic wine. Hand picked, bunch pressed, fermented and aged in old French oak barrels for 18 months, and bottled without fining. A very nice wine and a fantastic deal too.
