Hurricane Beryl hits Texas amid heat wave

As Hurricane Beryl rolled ashore in coastal Texas, much of the nation is under a heat wave that is set to push temperatures to unprecedented highs along the West Coast, leaving millions of Americans sweltering under a relentless heat dome. About 36 million people (nearly 10% of the US population) are under excessive heat warnings as the heat dome, mainly centered over California, spreads east. The record heat, an indication of the extreme weather patterns driven by climate change caused by fossil fuels, is a trend expected to continue for decades.

Xi seeks dialogue between Russia, Ukraine

Chinese President Xi Jinping told Hungarian Prime Minister Viktor Orban on Monday that world powers should help Russia and Ukraine re-start direct negotiations during a visit to Beijing branded a "peace mission" by the European leader. Orban's trip to China comes a day before NATO is due to hold a summit to mark its 75th anniversary, with setbacks in Ukraine set to dominate discussions, and follows surprise visits by the Hungarian premier to Russia and Ukraine in the past week.

Apple Watch upgraded for 10th birthday

The Apple Watch will be celebrating its 10th birthday and the company is preparing to give users new features on the product. Fans of the Series 10 can look forward to picking a screen with approximately the same size as the one on Apple Watch Ultra. Users are bound to notice the larger displays while the device will be thinner, promising a less bulkier feel when worn. Users can expect larger screens for both versions of the Series 10. The code names for both are N217 and N218.
