A series of gains for America's unions made during President Joe Biden's administration are vulnerable now that President-elect Donald Trump is headed back to the White House. Historic union contracts that came about with automakers and high-profile companies like Apple, Amazon, Chipotle, Boeing, UPS, Hollywood studios and Starbucks during the Biden administration. Trump is an advocate for companies to have more control over employee pay and anti-union initiatives Trump's administration is expected to push for a deregulatory approach to labor.

COP29 nations approve new climate rules

Governments at the COP29 talks approved Monday new UN standards for international carbon markets in a key step toward allowing countries to trade credits to meet their climate targets. On the first day of the UN climate talks in Azerbaijan, nearly 200 nations agreed to ground rules for setting a market in motion after nearly a decade of talks. Other key aspects of the overall framework must be negotiated, but the decision brings closer a UN-backed market trading in high-quality credits.
