GOP votes to withhold Gaetz ethics report

All five Republicans on the House Ethics Committee voted to withhold publicizing its long-running report from a years-long investigation into a slew of allegations, including sexual misconduct, illicit drug use, and accepting improper gifts, against former Rep. Matt Gaetz. However, the committee will finish its investigation before reconvening in December. Gaetz has been under scrutiny since President-elect Donald Trump appointed him attorney general, a decision that has drawn ire on both sides of the aisle while Trump pressures the Senate to confirm his pick.

WHY THE VOTE TOOK MULTIPLE ROUNDS TO PROTECT GAETZ

Dems OK judges during Trump launch trip

President-elect Donald Trump is furious after Senate Republicans, distracted by a SpaceX trip with key members of their caucus, missed crucial votes that allowed Democrats to confirm more of President Joe Biden's judicial nominees. As Biden's presidency winds down, Dems are racing to confirm judicial nominees before Republicans take control of the Senate in January. Historically, judicial confirmations have proven to be a top priority for both parties, with Trump appointing 234 federal judges and three Supreme Court justices during his first term.

Russia gives 75 animals to North Korea zoo

Russian President Vladimir Putin found a unique way to thank North Korean leader Kim Jung Un for sending thousands of troops to fight Ukraine -- by sending dozens of exotic animals to Pyongyang. Russia airlifted 75 animals from the Moscow Zoo to the Pyongyang Zoo, including a lion, bears, yaks, and a variety of bird species. The gifts reflect a growing level of cooperation between the two outlaw nations.
