New longevity insights from Index
In this special edition of our newsletter, we’re updating you on two important developments coming out of our
Aging Research Center—and we hope they’ll get you excited about participating in longevity research. The first is that
long-term use of Basis or Signal is associated with slower biological aging, as well as slower rates of aging of the liver, kidneys, and the inflammation and metabolic systems. The second update is that we’re preparing to enroll participants in our new sleep and longevity study, TIME-ZZZ, developed in partnership with sleep expert and Professor of Circadian Neuroscience at the University of Oxford Russell Foster, Ph.D. Read on for details and to learn how you can participate.

Long-term use of Basis or Signal is associated with slower biological aging
Index users who enroll in
TIME-A are helping to elucidate what an ideal longevity routine might look like—both in their own lives and for the Elysium community more broadly. New data on the relationship between Basis and Signal and slower biological aging illustrates this point. We encourage all Index users to enroll to help us better understand these promising results, and to track their own biological age over time as they use Elysium products. Here’s what we learned so far.
Taking
Basis consistently for two or more years was associated with a
~5% slower rate of aging, according to epigenetic data, including from our TIME-A longevity study.* These individuals with a slower overall rate of aging also had slower rates of aging of the liver, kidneys, inflammation, and metabolic systems. We saw a similar
~5% reduction in the rate of aging associated with the use of
Signal for one or more years.
We view these findings as an important step forward in NAD+ and longevity research. For the last century, calorie restriction (CR) has been the gold standard for aging interventions. A recent human study published in
Nature Aging demonstrated a 2-3% reduction in the rate of aging in individuals who ate 12% fewer calories over two years. The longevity benefits of CR are mediated, in part, by sirtuins—also known as “longevity genes.” Sirtuin activators, like NAD+ boosters, are considered calorie restriction mimetics because they upregulate pathways activated by CR.
We look forward to sharing the full results when we publish our findings—and to continuing to offer direct access to breakthroughs in longevity science.
*The epigenetic data came from 473 study participants who self-reported their supplement use. Biological age can also be influenced by various environmental and lifestyle factors and changes.

Translational Initiative to Map Epigenetics in Sleep (TIME-ZZZ)
TIME-ZZZ is our new longevity study focused on sleep. Designed with renowned sleep expert Russell Foster, Ph.D., TIME-ZZZ seeks to advance our understanding of the association between sleep quality, chronotype, mental health, and biological aging. Foster serves as Professor of Circadian Neuroscience and the Head of Department of Ophthalmology at the University of Oxford and is a member of the Elysium Health Scientific Advisory Board.
