Watch now: sleep science webinar with Russell Foster, Ph.D.
Earlier this month we were pleased to offer the Elysium community a webinar with renowned sleep expert
Russell Foster, Ph.D.:
Sleep, Circadian Rhythms, and Health: Looking Forward to Healthy Aging. Dr. Foster gave an in-depth presentation about the impact of age on our circadian and sleep biology, and the role our circadian clock plays in regulating all aspects of our physiology, from performance (both cognitive and athletic) to how our bodies respond to certain medications. For those who missed it, you can watch the webinar recording using the link below. Stay tuned for more content with Dr. Foster answering audience questions from the webinar.
Dr. Foster is Professor of Circadian Neuroscience and Head of the Department of Ophthalmology at the University of Oxford. His research addresses how circadian rhythms and sleep are generated and regulated, and what happens when these systems fail because of societal pressures, aging, and disease. Dr. Foster has published more than 300 scientific papers and received multiple national and international awards, most recently
The Daylight Award. He is a member of the Elysium Scientific Advisory Board and the principal investigator for our sleep and longevity study,
TIME-ZZZ.

recommends Mosaic for “after-sun care”
Wearing broad-spectrum sunscreen is essential for any period of prolonged sun exposure, but what happens when you get home and you’re a little tan or red, anyway?
The Zoe Report’s Jessica Fields spoke with skin experts to develop an after‑sun care plan—and
Mosaic was the one supplement they recommended. That’s because Mosaic contains hyaluronic acid, essential for increasing whole-body skin moisture throughout the layers of the skin, improving skin barrier function, and increasing skin elasticity. Fields also highlighted the Phytonutrient Carotenoid Complex in Mosaic, which combines carotenoids and phytonutrients that work synergistically to protect, restore, and enhance your skin—before and after sun exposure.
The rest of the expert advice revolves around nourishment and hydration following time in the sun: a cool shower, drinking plenty of water, and replenishing your skin with products rich in antioxidants, hyaluronic acid, and vitamins A, C, and E. Just as important is what not to do. Avoid exfoliating, harsh chemicals, and products with alcohol—all of which can further dry and irritate your already sensitive skin.

features Index biological age test
Millions of TODAY Show viewers learned about
biological aging and
Index this month. NBC’s Vicky Nguyen posed the question: Can a biological age test (with lifestyle recommendations) help you stay healthy and youthful? To find out she tried Index and spoke with two longevity science experts: Elysium chief scientist and renowned aging researcher
Leonard Guarente, Ph.D., and Eric Verdin, M.D., CEO and professor at the Buck Institute for Research on Aging.
One key insight Nguyen learned from her conversations was that the tests are most useful when you take them, consult a health practitioner for advice, make lifestyle modifications, and then retest. Dr. Guarente agreed, pointing out that Index is
“absolutely iterative,” and provides the most useful information when taken multiple times. Our research corroborates the value of tracking over time: Taking
Basis consistently for two or more years was associated with a ~5% slower rate of aging, according to epigenetic data, including from our
TIME-A longevity study.*
*The epigenetic data came from 473 study participants who self-reported their supplement use. Biological age can also be influenced by various environmental and lifestyle factors and changes.

features our Senolytic Complex as
“best new beauty product”
The fashion and beauty magazine
W published a roundup of the best beauty products that launched recently—what they call
“genuine game-changers you should consider purchasing”—and Elysium’s
Senolytic Complex made the list. Why this product for clearing
senescent cells among masks, powders, and face oils? They like the Senolytic Complex because it helps eliminate unwanted senescent cells, which exist throughout the body, including in the skin where these “zombie” cells contribute to skin aging. Beauty enthusiasts will appreciate that the Senolytic Complex works throughout the body to manage senescent cells, promote cellular rejuvenation, support a healthy immune system, manage age-related inflammation, and improve exercise recovery, endurance, and muscle remodeling.

QUOTE OF THE MONTH
“Simply Amazing. What
Signal and
Basis do on the inside
Mosaic does on the outside. My skin is looking more youthful and healthier; I have noticed how much more elastic it is. Smile lines fade much faster rather than sticking around after I smile. This is a banger of a product. Great Job Elysium!”
