THE COMEDOGENIC SCALE
Today, we’re talking about the comedogenic scale.
The comedowhat?!
Let’s start at the beginning. A comedone is a fancy word for a pimple — or, more specifically, the white pus-filled bubble that forms on your face when a pore gets clogged with sebum and dead skin cells. (Apologies if you were eating while reading this.)
Nobody wants comedones. Well, we’re mostly sure nobody wants comedones. So when we start thinking about products we will apply to our face, we typically want non-comedogenic ingredients — the fancy way of saying they are not likely to clog pores and cause pimples.
This is where the comedogenic scale comes into play.
The comedogenic scale rates ingredients from 0 to 5, with 0 being the least likely to clog pores and 5 being the most likely. For an ingredient to be considered non-comedogenic, it needs to have a score of 2 or lower.
The key ingredients in Beardbrand Utility Oil are listed below, along with their comedogenic score:
Abyssinian Oil: 0 Castor Oil : 1 Jojoba Oil: 1 Babassu Oil: 1-2
So the next time you apply Beardbrand Utility Oil to your beard, apply some to your face as well. This will help keep your skin moisturized and healthy without clogging your pores.
