A mega value from a mega star winemaker - it's the 2021 Ponce La Casilla!
Crafted using whole clusters of Bobal from the scorching area of Manchuela, this wine will totally reset your expectations of this native Spanish variety. What was once associated with dark, dank and ultra potent overtones is the base for Juan Antonio Ponce's bottling of "La Casilla" - a polished and refined wine that shows Syrah-esque character more than anything!
The freshness you find in the wine comes from Ponce sourcing this fruit from a high-altitude (2400 feet!!) vineyard so the acidity has a chance to really climb in the wine. The whole clusters add another level of depth and complexity, as does the wine spending time in old, massive oak vats during the aging process. What's more is that these high-altitude vines are upwards of 60 years old; having decades to dive deep into the soil to pick up nutrients and character along the way.
Drinkers would be hard-pressed to find a wine with this much depth and complexity for under $50 a bottle. But as Spain is (still) the source for some of the greatest values in the wine world, this 94-Point (WA) beauty checks in under $15 a bottle - a truly unmatched value by any measure!

"2021 was a cooler year, and the 2021 La Casilla, produced with Bobal from 40- to 60-year old vines at 800 meters in altitude, shows moderate ripeness and 13% alcohol, nice balance and a polished palate but with grip, after the wine spent some 15 months in bottle. It has an explosive nose, clean and expressive, with a somewhat Northern Rhône profile with an herbal twist, as well as depth and balance and very fine, chalky tannins. 15,000 bottles produced. It was bottled in June 2022." - 94 Points Luis Gutierrez, Robert Parker's Wine Advocate
