I’m a fiery feminine Aries, enneagram 8 and born and raised New Yorker. I just assumed I was a mega reactive person, it was my personality. I’ve come to realize that impatience, crankiness, anxiety, sleeplessness, depressiveness, exhaustion were not my personality traits but a biological situation. My reckoning with stress came when I stopped trying to eliminate it and learned to understand it and then befriend it. Along the way, I discovered a category of plants called adaptogens: mushrooms, roots and berries, that help the body adapt to stress and balance cortisol. SuperYou® was born out of this journey. I worked with an herbalist to formulate a daily stress buffer for almost anyone with four potent adaptogens: Shatavari, Ashwagandha, Amla, and Rhodiola. They have been game changers to my life and perceived “personality”. I could see the change, feel the change, and the change showed up in my blood panels and it showed up in my presence. Since then, SuperYou® has been my constant companion. From pregnancy prep to postpartum chaos, post-Covid PMS and the perimenopause window. Intrusive thoughts that animated as emotional snacking or stress cravings. Autoimmune flare ups and the overwhelming constance of our overstimulating world. I run my body and mind hard, maybe it’s my constitution? Maybe life demands a lot this season? But to be honest, I’m feeling a bit burnt from the last couple of years. During acute times, I up my dose to 4 caps per day. When life flows, I stick to 2 caps a day to manage everyday stressors like blue light, air pollution, allergens, junk sleep, sugar, and travel. With stress chemistry in check, it becomes easier to keep up with the little habits that help you stay there. Simple things, like putting your bare feet on the ground, being present with children and animals, getting morning sunshine, watching the sunset, reading a book, cooking… Since launching SuperYou® in 2018, I’ve heard from thousands of you — in my DMs, in our reviews, when I meet you in the world — about the impact it’s had on your lives. You feel less stressed at work. You feel more in control of your cravings. You feel more energetic and less reactive with your kids. I get asked daily about what new “crazy” wellness things I’ve been getting into and while I’m always experimenting, I find myself really coming back to basics these days and appreciating them in a deeper way. Hydrating, allowing myself to express — crying, laughing, emoting fully — getting proper rest, taking bioavailable vitamins and minerals, walking in the sunshine, oxytocin situations (sex, hugging, animals), cooking foods that heal, and for right now 4 caps of SuperYou® to help lower cortisol, balance hormones, and boost brain function. Love, Amanda P.S. If you really want to get into the root causes of anxiety and stress, check out our Expert Series with Ellen Vora, MD, board-certified psychiatrist, acupuncturist, and author. |
