Dear Misen community,
At Misen, we’re grateful every day to do what we love, making cooking more joyful and accessible. The holidays remind us of the power of food to bring people together, while highlighting a stark contrast: where some are filling their homes with shiny new things, good meals, and lasting memories, others lack a safe, comfortable home to cook in, let alone a fully-stocked kitchen.
This year, we wanted to do something meaningful and provide tangible help. We learned from Habitat for Humanity that cookware is one of the most in-demand categories for families with limited income, but it is often donated in poor shape. We saw an opportunity: As the largest nonprofit homebuilder in the country, Habitat had broad access to families in need; and we have more than enough cookware to go around.
Last month, we donated 571 full sets of pots and pans along with 1,500 individual pieces to Habitat Philadelphia and Habitat Salt Lake City, near our two warehouses. Their teams have already sent our donations directly to support families and have stocked them at their Habitat ReStore locations, with 100% of proceeds going directly to critical programs: helping people with home purchases, mortgages, repairs, and neighborhood projects like building benches or mini-libraries.
We know this is just a small step, but we hope it helps make it a little easier for a few more people to gather around a table in a safe, warm home.
