Why do we have a book club?

It's about so much more than our team's love of reading. ͏ ͏ ͏ ͏ ͏ ͏ ͏ ͏ ͏ ͏ ͏ ͏ ͏ ͏ ͏ ͏ ͏ ͏ ͏ ͏ ͏ ͏ ͏ ͏ ͏ ͏ ͏ ͏ ͏ ͏ ͏ ͏ ͏ ͏ ͏ ͏ ͏ ͏ ͏ ͏ ͏ ͏ ͏ ͏ ͏ ͏ ͏ ͏ ͏ ͏ ͏ ͏ ͏ ͏ ͏ ͏ ͏ ͏ ͏ ͏ ͏ ͏ ͏ ͏ ͏ ͏ ͏ ͏

The first Margaux book club came together on a New York City night back in January of 2020. Since then, we've read fictionalized tales of the Gilded Age, nonfiction work celebrating the power of change-making young women, and more. We've mingled over baked goods in Brooklyn and sipped champagne while watching a presentation of archival photography.

Every now and then, we'll get asked: "Why?" Why be a footwear brand that hosts a book club and bring women together to hear from an author rather than try on shoes?

The quickest answer is that we're a team that loves to read (and learn). We swap books and share recommendations and escape into pages to satiate a collective desire to learn, explore, and adventure. But the bigger reason, the thing that connects a book club to Margaux on a cellular level, is that we are deeply committed to and inspired by our community.

We love getting to meet you and forge relationships. We enjoy helping to facilitate a space for connection and time to step away from tasks and to-dos in favor of listening, learning, and talking to others.

Footnotes might not be as important as the shoes we're thoughtfully designing every season—but it's close.
