6 Tips for a Stylish Spring

Must be something in the air, but I’ve just felt the itch to dress a little more spiffed up this year. I don’t, however, want to give up comfort or ease to do so. Look your best, feel your best, I guess. I’m excited to share some of my hacks on how to look a little dressier—but not too dressy—while maximizing comfort at the same time. From Indiana Jones’ watch to Tuscan leather loafers to astronaut-approved aviators, here are the pieces that are starting my spring on a hell of a high note.

People around the office make fun of me because of how much I wear AloeKnit. You hear brands brag all the time about softness, but this truly takes the cake. I catch myself rubbing the fabric between my fingers throughout the day because of how soft it is. The fact that our Director of Design decided to put a spread collar on the polo and combine it with a tightly-knit texture really dresses it up. Date-night look, couch-night feel. Plus, the aloe infused into the fabric helps it breathe and hides any odor.

A little extra room, a soft-textured herringbone fabric, and a dressy edge with the pleat make this an easy way to dress up without “dressing up”. I own three colors in this pant, and counting. I've been getting into wider fits recently, and this is perfect. Slightly more room, but not “wide.” Just right. 

I am super nerdy about watches. Hamilton’s American Classic Boulton Quartz Watch looks elevated and has the history and tradition of many of the greats, but at a price that won’t break the bank.  A touch of gold and a croc print strap—this guy is always a great finishing touch. Just ask Harrison Ford, he was rocking this watch in Indiana Jones and the Dial of Destiny. 

Who has time to tie your shoes these days? I’m realizing there’s a theme here—I love looking good and keeping it simple. Paris’ Jacques Solovière lives and breathes that ethos of minimalism and quality. They work with a small, family-owned factory in Tuscany to craft super-soft leather loafers that have just enough polish to let you lift your look while feeling like you slipped on sandals.

With the Texas heat already starting to hit, a trusty pair of sunglasses to top off my ‘slightly’ dressy look is a necessity. American Optical didn’t just supply this same style to U.S. military pilots—they equipped astronauts from the Mercury, Gemini, and Apollo missions going back to 1958. Very cool, but I’m glad they help me safely get to work through Austin traffic in my Volvo, too.

And finally, for when I’m not dressing up. When I’m home, on the trail, doing yoga, or pretty much anywhere else, you will see me in these. A lot of workout shorts miss the mark on a crucial detail—pockets. These keep anything you’re carrying secure with not one zippered pocket, but two! I’ve washed mine maybe 50 times. They still look great and are quite literally the Huckberry item I wear the most. Period.
