Hey there,
Nick Kemp here, Director of Design for Flint and Tinder.
The Spring 2025 drop just went live, and it's a special one that's been years in the making. As you may well know by now, I moved back to Austin with Huckberry two years ago. Ever since I landed, I’ve been building this collection as an homage to my Texan roots. It draws heavily on inspiration from Marfa, TX, and my love for vintage details.
Both sides of my family are generational Texans. I grew up watching old Western films like Giant, starring James Dean and filmed in West Texas—I was even obsessed with Spaghetti Westerns. I got older and realized they weren't filmed here, but I still held onto the romanticism of the landscape and the history of Texas, especially West Texas. Where I really discovered Marfa was through my fascination with minimalist artist Donald Judd.
The new collection brings all of my inspiration together and features new styles, colors, and patterns inspired by the “way out west," blending rugged American workwear with smart casual staples. I took my favorite vintage Type 2 Denim Jacket and updated it for 2025, with side-entry pockets and a hint of stretch; the faded wash in the new Garment Dyed Sweater was inspired by the dusty earth tones I’ve come to love; and the woven jacquard Southwestern Flannel was inspired by old blankets I grew up with.
There's a wide range here, all paying homage to the remote and vast expanses of West Texas, a place my family has been lucky to call home for decades. It's unlike any other place in the world. I hope you love it as much as I loved making it. This one feels like coming home.
