I’ve been thinking recently, as I’ve been revisiting old sweaters to bring back into rotation: What makes a piece of clothing timeless? What do the pieces I reach for year after year have in common?
There’s the obvious answer, to start: The piece needs to be well-made, with high-quality materials, so I can wear and love it for many years.
But the more intangible element of sartorial longevity—which is what we always keep front of mind when designing G. Label—is that even the most hardworking basics need a little edge to them. Or small design choices that feel unexpected. Like the pretty keyhole on this familiar cardigan silhouette, or the sleek, mirrored buckle on this belt. Those are the details that I know I’ll feel cool wearing today and 10 years from now.
