Earlier in the year, I mentioned that I’ve been trying to work on my hosting and tablescape formula—thank you for your sweet notes in reply and your recs. Because of Lavinia, I’ve been browsing La DoubleJ tableware on goop and elsewhere. And because of Kathryn, I’m considering trying wine-matching at my next dinner party. Shalan, if you’re reading this, please do send your go-to playlist.
It’s interesting to see different hosting approaches, and I think the Brown Paper Board strategy in today’s newsletter from chef Edy Massih is particularly fun. I loved reading about how he came to rethink the charcuterie board concept at a photo shoot. And the idea that you can take a piece of brown butcher paper, a handful of simple foods, and a marker—and create something beautiful and utilitarian.
Love, Gwyneth
