A note on Blue Ridge

If you’ve been following along, you already know that we’ve been dealing with more supply chain issues over the last year than we’ve dealt with in the 10 years prior.

First petalite disappeared (swallowed up by the insatiable battery industry), then a clay we used in our glazes couldn’t be found for a few months, and finally (after reformulating all of our glazes) the feldspar we use that has been available for 80 years disappeared overnight. We reformulated yet again and got everything sorted except for one glaze: Blue Ridge.

We’ve run test after test but we haven’t found the match. While we work towards a viable new recipe, we’re going to send Blue Ridge into a temporary early retirement. I don’t want to make a timeline promise we cannot keep. We have a few forms left (Everyday Bowls, Breakfast Bowls, Ice Cream Bowls, Popcorn Bowls, and Mixing Bowls) but once these are gone, they’re gone for a while.

As soon as we get that dusky blue-steel back we’ll glaze a few kiln loads and let you all know.
