“Executed with style” is how Knoll’s Senior Vice President of Design, Jonathan Olivares, describes the Tugendhat™ Chair by Ludwig Mies van der Rohe, recently reissued by Knoll®. Though originally created in 1929 to furnish a villa designed by Mies in the Czech Republic, the Tugendhat Chair embodies timeless elegance and is equally modern today.
The chair’s cantilevered frame is offered in its original polished chrome or a new ultra-matte black powder-coated finish – while the soft, impeccably tailored cushions come in 70+ leathers and fabrics.
Pioneering German-American architect and designer Mies van der Rohe designed the Villa Tugendhat in the Czech Republic – an icon of European modernist architecture. Inside, the home features iron columns, which are reflected in the Tugendhat Chair’s tubular steel frame.
